Faithfulness
September 15th, 2009
As I prepare to launch Souled Out I have pondered greatly what on earth I should share in my very first blog ever!! Certainly I have recapped in my mind all that the past years have held for me…and the recurring theme that keeps coming to me is “Gods unfailing faithfulness!”
Faithfulness is defined as having continued steadfast adherence to a person, a strong sense of responsibility…accurate and reliable. Oh, how he has been steadfast to see me through. Accurate and reliable to heal & faithful to allow me to be a part of His work in the lives of others.
I reminisce back so many years when God placed the passion in my heart to speak publicly about my journey and his grace. Little did I know what I would have to additionally go through to get to this place. He has been faithful to heal and restore things I felt at one time would be broken forever…my spirit, my body, and more.
When I read through the Old Testament and see the faithful rescue of the people time and time again I continually think geez, these people just do not get it! I’m not sure I would have been so faithful to repeatedly rescue them-but He was. This is His character. He continues to faithfully rescue us as well.
My friend Janet used to talk with me about the faithfulness of God with such conviction and passion. Much the same as the psalmist talk about God’s faithfulness. When you read the statements of faithfulness in psalms you just “know” the depth of which they speak. Just the same as when my friend Janet would share her testimony of His faithfulness. At that time in my life it was difficult for me to “own” that same level of passion and depth even though He had been faithful to me. Now, years later through perseverance I “own” the same resolve the psalmist and Janet owned. God’s great unfailing faithfulness resides in my soul. A tether He has formed from simply living with Him daily.
Our lack of trust in God to remain absolute in His faithfulness is much to blame on our unfortunate experiences with unfaithful man. But Numbers 23:19 says “God is not a man that he should lie or the son of man that he should change his mind.” Psalm 33:4 says He is faithful in ALL he does. Our experience with broken promises, forgetfulness, disappointments, selfish ambitions and agendas in others has shaped our receptors not to trust in an absolute faithfulness.
Are you longing, needing, wondering or questioning? Open up your Bible; go to the back and look up scripture tied to word faithful(ness). Begin to read through and meditate on every one of these scriptures. Build up your spirit in “knowing” the depth and perfection of Gods faithfulness. Hold tight to the truth of Gods Word and in the faithfulness of those who have gone before you. The only way you will never experience the encouraging and restorative faithfulness of the Lord Jesus Christ is if you give up and give in. Yes, He shows Himself faithful to the faithful, but He is also faithful to the fallen who cry out – “rescue me, complete the desires of my heart, only your faithfulness to my situation can bring redemption and or fulfillment.” Do you have a need, a desire, dreams? Are you in a bottomless pit? Do you want to set the world on fire? Do you need motherhood skills that no one ever modeled for you? Reach out, cry out, stand firm and do not falter. Faithfulness is on the way. “His name is Faithful and True.”
